Hope for Youth Uganda is a community-based organization dedicated to improving access to education, life skills, clean water, and economic opportunities for vulnerable children, youth, and families in Mukono District.
Who we are
Hope for Youth - Uganda (H4YU) is a fully registered local Ugandan NGO operating in rural communities of Nama and Kyampisi, sub-counties of Mukono district.
Base Line
We offer free basic primary education, life skills, nutrition, sports, music, vocational training and art programs for children, youth and young adults. Through our sponsors, some students are supported at tertiary institutions.
What We Do
Through practical, community-driven programs, we help break the cycle of poverty and build self-sufficient futures. We have six thematic areas of intervention, which include:
This impactful initiative enhances youth learning in our community, aligning with UN SDG 4, We offer diverse education, life skills, nutrition, sports and arts programs.
Our youth programs equip young people with the tools, values, and vision to create lasting change in their communities. The programs provide the knowledge, mentorship, and real-world experiences young people need to thrive.
The school’s community outreach, led by H4YU graduates, engages elders with monthly presentations on nutrition, gardening, vitamins, reading clubs, and healthcare support.
The “You Matter” Girls Only program is designed to reach out to community girls and young mothers from a variety of backgrounds, focused on changing their lives for the better.
Water is one of the basic necessities of life. Safe water is especially critical for children, who are the most vulnerable to water-related diseases. H4YU strives to provide potable water and adequate sanitation to decrease illnesses, improve health, and lessen the burden on women and children by reducing the distance to water collection points. This is done through drilling new water wells (pump wells), repairing traditional community existing wells, developing spring and rainwater catchments, and providing water storage.
A pump well, located on school premises, provides clean drinking water to the school and the community.
H4YU aspires to be a self-sufficient organization, currently managing poultry, piggery, goat rearing, and crop cultivation. Growth is sustained through community partnerships, mentoring youth, fostering cross-cultural friendships, and promoting togetherness.
